Sprint Nextel has launch released the UTStarcom CDM-120, an entry-level priced CDMA flip phone handset. This cellphone is also expected to be launched on Verizon Wireless very soon.

UTStartcom CDM-120 features include:
Crisp .7x.8 CSTN 65k color display
Built-in Speakerphone
4-way navigation key
Voice activated dialing
SMS Text messaging
Voice Activated Dialing and Voice Recorder

Sprint is now selling the CDM-120 for free when you sign up for a new service activation with $149.99 in instant savings. Not a bad deal for this nice little phone that they are using the catchy advert catch-phrase "Say Hello to a Good Buy" -- sleek design and loaded with features.

LG to acquire KTFT of Korea

LG Electronics recently announced a deal to acquire KTFT of South Korea. KTFT is the 5th largest mobile phone producer in South Korea, and they also make some models for the U.S. partnership with UTStarcom (formerly Audiovox). KTFT's specialty is to develop mobile handsets and outsource the manufacturing to cheaper suppliers.

No specific details surrounding the deal have been announced. When this deal closes, it will still leave Samsung, Pantech, LG Mobile, and Motorola as the big 4 market leaders for South Korea.
